From: http://uh.ms.km.ua/Time1/ivanofrank/endex.html:
In the Xth century the lands of modern Ivano-Frankivshchina
belonged to the Kyivs'ka Rus', since 1199 - to the Galyts'ko-Volyns'ke
principality, later - to the Russuan province of Rich Pospolyta.
After the three partitions of Poland at the end of the XVIIIth
century, this territory became the part of the Austro-Hungary, in
1918-1919 it was a part of the West-Ukrainian National Republic.
Since 1939 it is in the structure of Ukraine.
