[Flag of Féderation du Scoutisme Europeen] by Antonio Gutiérrez G., 14 June 1999

Union Internationale des Guides et Scouts d´Europe (or "Féderation du Scoutisme Europeen")

Seen during a celebration in Poland, in the recent visit of Pope John Paul II.

Antonio Gutiérrez G., 14 June 1999

That flag is the flag of the Polish Catholic Scouting Organisation.
A more accurate version is at the following URL:

Robert Czernkowski, 15 June 1999

Trusting that Antonio Gutierrez image was not so inaccurate anyway, I'd ask about the evident similarity between this flag and the Templar's "beausant"... Any monk warrier order connection I'd expect in Poland would be with the Teutonic Knights, not with the Templars...

Antonio Martins-Tuvalkin, 24 June 1999

This Polish organisation is a member of the "Union Internationale des Guides et Scouts d´Europe" (or "Féderation du Scoutisme Europeen").

The Italian branch (at http://www.fse.it/italia.html) describes two types of the flag:

  • square, vertical bicolour, white at hoist; used for ceremonies;
    and
  • rectangular, horisontal bicolour, white on top; used for ???
What is "l'alzabandiera"?

[Flag of Scout movement Bleimor, 1946-62] by Ivan Sache, 08 January 1999

Bleimor [Seadog]

Scout movement founded on 9 January 1946 by P. Géraud-Keraod on the model of the Urz Goanag Breiz, and merged in 1962 in the European Scouts.
Its flag was a green field charged with a yellow circle and a Scandinavian black cross fimbriated with white, the whole representing a Celtic cross.
Rectangular and triangular flags were used.
