Or, a rising curved axe Sable. Such an axe with a curved handle was traditional in area from 15th century, and was a symbol of power. People were bearing axes even to churches, up till the last Century.

The flag was adopted by the county council on 02 November 1970 and approved by Royal resolution on 19 December 1970
