Description of the flag

Oslo is the capital of Norway. The flag was designed in 1924, for the 300th anniversary of Kristiania (as Oslo was then known). Poportions 8:13. The colours are not explained, but both of them are found in the seal/arms of Oslo, a compliated design featuring Oslo's patron saint St. Hallvard.
Jan Oskar Engene, 20 October 1995

Status of the flag

Oslo is both a city and a county - administratively it is the same thing, so there is only one flag.
Jan Oskar Engene, 19 November 1995
