Description of the Flag

[Saxonian flag] by Zeljko Heimer, 23 June 1996

There is a law concerning partly the "state" flag of Saxony: this flag is white on green and has the arms in the middle. So there are two flags for Saxony:
Land flag (white on green) although the only reference to it is the Constitution which speaks about "colours" and
The state flag, in the same article as for the other land, is the same with the arms in the middle (round shield only). Proportions 3:5??

The Constitution only can inform us about the flag of the land BUT there is something very interesting and rare in the flag article of the Constitution: This article allows the Sorbs to fly their flag and to have arms. The inhabitants of the part of Saxony which belonged to Lower Silesia in the past can fly the flag of this former Land, and can use the former arms of Lower Silesia. (Flag:yellow on white).
Pascal Vagnat, 19 December 1995

Flags in use 1947-1950

Several flags of service units were issued in 1947, but suppressed in 1950.
