5) Service flag for Lübeck State Vessels and State Maritime Buildings.

[Lübeck State Vessels] by Jaume Ollé, 2 February 1998

Like Like Prussia, no. 61, except in the square canton the black eagle of no. 4. Adopted 1893 and abandoned by 1921. [Illustrated Crampton, p.42, Meyers Konversations- Lexikon, 6 ed., vol. 4,NG p.367, no. 999 and 1008].

Norman Martin, 1998-02-25.

8) Service flag for Lübeck State Vessels in Inland Waters.

[Servce Flag of Lübeck Inland State Vessels] by Jaume Ollé, 13 June 1998

Like 4), but with in the lower hoist a gold anchor with a diagonal point directed towards the bottom left.In use from at least 1921 until 1935.

It seems likely that no. 4 replaced no. 3 somewhere around 1870. After 1945, unlike Hamburg and Bremen, Lübeck was not re-established as a state and hence, these flags no longer qualify as state flags.
Norman Martin, 1998-02-25.
