Kneeling Saint

Kneeling Saint (Hands clasped in prayer, gazing up and to the left).

Polychrome; glass eyes; sculpted tongue; 2½'.

Written in a vertical line from the right shoulder down to the right hem is a phrase beginning, "Creo in Dios. . ." With this indication of Faith and the bald head, the figure could possibly be St. Peter, but there are no keys or triple cross. Inside the mouth can be seen a sculpted tongue and a ridge for the teeth, though no teeth are present. Although the statue has been thickly and amateurishly repainted, the polychrome can be seen at the bent right knee and along the left hem of the cloak. The statue is hollow. The right knee and foot (one piece) are broken away from the main piece.

Location: West wall of the long room along the west wall of the ex-convento.
