MISSION STATEMENT
 Yara is a publication born of the desire to bring the voice of the new generation of youth born in and out of Cuba to a forum in which they can freely contribute.

We choose the name yara! to offer the same spirit as Cuba's first national cry for freedom (el grito de Yara) on October 10, 1868.

This publication, with the assistance and contributions of Cuban youth, seeks to provide readers with an interesting and eclectic mix of essays, articles, opinions and artwork. We seek to provide insights into how we perceive the past, present, and future of the Cuban nation.
