Miami, Oct 22 (EFE).- The Cuban American National Foundation (CANF) denied rumors on Wednesday that their chairman, Jorge Mas Canosa, had died.
Ninoska Perez, spokeswoman for one of the most powerful Cuban exile organizations, told EFE that Mas Canosa was resting at home, following the orders of his doctor Alberto Hernandez was resting at home.
An anonymous caller alerted several international news agencies that Mas Canosa had died on Wednesday morning.
Earlier, a fax of unknown origin announced that "reliable sources close to CANF's board of directors had said that Jorge Mas Canosa had died and Feliciano Follo had been elected to head the foundation."
Mas Canosa, 58, was hospitalized at Miami's Pan American Hospital on September 28 for a lung infection and suffered two relapses while at the hospital.
The anti-Castro leader, who has Paget's Disease, a chronic disease of the bones, was unexpectedly released from the hospital on October 13.
His son, Jorge Mas, said at that time that his father had noticeably improved, but the "road to recovery was still long." EFE
