HAVANA, Aug 31 (Reuters) - An oxygen tank exploded at a military shipyard in Havana, killing five workers and injuring another six, Cuba's armed forces said on Tuesday.
The accident happened on Monday when the workers were repairing a floating jetty for the Granma Military Industrial Company at the Casablanca dock on the side of Havana Bay.
Early investigations showed an oxygen tank used for metal-cutting had blown up, although an inquiry was continuing, a statement from Cuba's Revolutionary Armed Forces said.
Besides killing five workers, the explosion seriously injured another two, while four more suffered light injuries.
``The Revolutionary Armed Forces expresses its deepest condolences to the relatives of the brave, deceased comrades,'' the statement said.
