The cathedral seen today is the result of radical alterations at the beggining of the 18th century, designs of the architects Castrachini and Bizzacchero. Similar works transformed and enlarged it, in the second half of the 16th century and in the first half of the 14th century. Its baroque forms are light and well-contained, It is well worth nothing the organ, rebuilt in the eightteenth century using the parts of a preceding instruments. also notable are the wooden choir and the altar (a classic sarcophagus on early medieval capitals) unearthed during the eigthteenth century reconstruction.
