"To thee, O Lord, have I lifted up my soul. In thee,
O my God, I put my trust; let me not he ashamed."
The kneeling tonsured figure, dressed in a long red
and gold cassock, illustrates the first verse of this
psalm by holding up his soul, represented by the
common medieval symbol of a small naked figure.
The church is decorated with unusual gold statues on
pedestals. A golden angel perches on a gilded colonette near the altar. This miniature is by Jean Colombe.
