The armed assault on a city by warriors whom we see forcing its gates symbolizes the insults received by the people of God and by their leader. "All the day long my enemies reproached me: and they that praised me swear against me."
The battle takes place within Jerusalem; the enemy is shown at the doors of the fortress erected in the middle of the city.
