Les Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry

Prayer of David

Folio 53v

Here the church is differentiated from that in the preceding miniature by its columns and pilasters and its absence of sculpture.
David kneels, a book open before him, and chants Psalm CXXIV, a plea for help: "Do good, O Lord, to those that are good, and to the upright of heart. "
Because Jean Colombe made use of space reserved for an explanation of the subject, the painting on this page, as well as folio 52v, is larger than those executed by the Limbourg brothers.
