The first miniature represents David kneeling, intoning Psalm CXXII, a song of confidence in the Lord
God, who appears to him amid the clouds: "To thee
have I lifted up my eyes, who dwellest in heaven.
Behold as the eyes of servants are on the hands of
their masters, as the eyes of the handmaid are on the
hands of her mistress..."
Several figures, probably representing the servants and handmaid of the canticle, look out from behind a barred window set in the tower wall. In the background a landscape opens.
Like folios 53r and 53v, this painting is attributed to Jean
Colombe.
