To illustrate the Office for Pentecost Mass, Jean
Colombe has painted a miniature which re-creates in
a smaller format the scene heading the Hours of the
Holy Ghost (folio 79r).
It is centered around the Virgin who kneels before an open book. Unlike the larger miniature, there was not room enough here to show
all the apostles, and the cenacle is different, but the
dove, the golden rays of the Holy Ghost, and the
Virgin's mantle are similar.
The event takes place in the choir of a modest chapel, enclosed by wrought
iron gates and a wooden partition. Despite the ornate decoration of the pillars, the architecture is in the Gothic style.
The ornamental letters and foliage also date from
the second period of the manuscript's decoration.
