Founded by photojournalist Rick Smolan, creator of the best-selling “Day in the Life” photography series, and Jennifer Erwitt, Project Director of that series, “Against All Odds Productions (AAO)” specializes in the design and execution of large-scale photographic projects that combine compelling story-telling with state-of-the-art technology.

On “24 Hours in Cyberspace,” the company has teamed up with Eastman Kodak, Sun Microsystems, Adobe Systems, and other leading companies to mount the largest collaborative Internet project ever.

More than 100 of the world's top photojournalists will take part in “24 Hours in Cyberspace”. Their targets will be the most intriguing stories from the on-line frontier, from rural Nepal to Oakland's inner-city ghetto to the boardrooms of New York City. Their focus will be on the human stories behind the technology; the new ways in which we work, play, learn, conduct business and interact.

“Silicon Valley for Democracy in China” (SVDC) has provided input and assistance to AAO in developing a page in which support for the promotion of human rights in China is demonstrated as one of the ways the cyberspace technology pushes mankind to yet another frontier.

On other front, SVDC has recently been listed by the Congressional Research Service, Foreign Affairs and National Defense Division of the Library of Congress as a consulting resource.
