From Oct. 29 - Nov. 3, 2005, students of the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum participated at the annual excursion to Galilee and the Golan Heights lead by Prof. Peter Kaswalder. The main sites visited of archeological and biblical interests were: Mount Tabor, Hammat Tiberias, Capernaum, Qatzrin, Tel Dan, Tabgha, Bethsaida, Kursi, Hippos, Mount of the Beatitude, Corazin, Kfar Bar'am, Tel Hazor, Cana, Sefforis, Acco, Beth Shearim, Megiddo, and Al Muhraqa. The visits to the shrines of Nazareth were done while lodging at hospices belonging to the Franciscans and the Fathers of Betharam in that city. The students also were able to attend a special prayer gathering held in the synagogue of Capernaum on the occasion of the closure of the Year of the Eucharist (2004-2005). Overall, we were blessed with good weather, except for a little sprinkling while at the site of Banyas. Also, due to the usual yearly autumn rain, were hampered from visiting the highest point in Israel, i.e., Mount Hermon, which, in fact, was covered with thick cluods.
