Pilgrims who visited the Holy Land between the IV and VII century

How many thousands of pilgrims visited the Holy Land in the first centuries of Christianity? They were eager to follow in the "footsteps of Christ, of the Prophets and of the Apostles" (Origen - III cent. AD). Only some of them left a written account of their journeys for the benefit of those who could not do the same. Some of these accounts soon rose to great fame while others were left neglected for centuries in archives and libraries. All of them are of some interest, not only to scholars, but to all those who love the Holy Places. Our project is to commit to the World Wide Web the best of these early pilgrims' accounts in a simple, interactive interface. Keep a watchful eye for the forthcoming additions.
