|
Chortaso, a city of Egypt. The form (of the name comes) from the future (of the verb chortazein, "to feed"). As from the future of kalyptein comes Kalypso so comes Chortaso from the future of chortazein . For they say that Cleopatra had no corn during a war, but the inhabitants of the place provided such a great quantity of it, as to feed the whole army, and therefore she named the city after this.
