8. Phasaelis - (Kh. Fasayil)

The palm tree between Phasaelis and Archelais indicates the palm groves there, which is already mentioned by Josephus and which were still in existence in Byzantine times. The damage on the map prevents us from ascertaining whether the church of St. Cyrillus of Scythopolis was shown on the map	(Herod) dedicated to his brother Phasael the tower that is called after him in Jerusalem. He also built another tower in the valley that leads northward from Jericho, and named it Phasaelis. (Josephus, War. 1.21.9)
