The geometric panel

A rectangular panel was added in area O. The panel measuring 260 x 192 cm laid on the east-west axis, is divided into two distinct areas, both enclosed by a frame formed by a polychromed stripe of two lines of white, black and yellow tesserae.

In the western area, two alternate cordoli of red and yellow tesserae form the composition of three knotted circles with a nucleus of yellow tesserae at the centre. Two of the circles are decorated by a small cross of red tesserae with a white tessera at the centre.

The eastern area is decorated with a very elaborate geometric motif made of luned crosses set at right angles having knotted eyelets on the diagonal, at a tangent with each other, having the effect of secanted circles forming concave lozenges. The composition is designed using linked straight-edged string courses of red and yellow tesserae set between two lines of black tesserae, with the addition of a circle in red tesserae joined at the tangential points.
