- Il committente è Giovanni Francesco
Langosco della Motta, membro dell'Ordine Gerosolimitano, che, ritornato in patria dopo
aver partecipato alla difesa di Malta, assediata dai Turchi nel 1565, fece costruire ed
ornare una cappella nella chiesa abbaziale di S. Andrea che dedicò alla Madonna del
Soccorso.
