Craig Lodge was bought in 1977 by the MacFarlane-Barrow family to run as a fishing and hunting lodge.
In 1988 after a visit to Medjugorje, the whole family, with the permission of the bishop, decided to give the house over to God, to be a place of peace and prayer, hence the name Family House of Prayer.
Craig Lodge is a Catholic Retreat House open to all denominations.
Craig Lodge is an old Country House set in seven acres of beautiful woods and gardens. It is one mile east of the village of Dalmally - which was known in earlier times as Clachan Diseart, or the Township of the Holy Retreat - and commands spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.
The extensive gardens are secluded and tranquil
- ideal for peace of mind, body and soul.
COME AND STAY
Like the deer that yearns for running streams, so my soul is thirsting for you my God - Psalm 42:1-2
Craig Lodge is an ideal place to take a step back from the world and a step closer to God.

We endevour to welcome all in an atmosphere of family, and strive to be a home, rather than an institution.
Our library of books, video and audio tapes are available for guest use.
The home-cooked meals are well recommended - with the healthy highland air producing hearty appetites.
In order to ensure the continuation of the House of Prayer, a charity was formed to administer Craig Lodge in December 1994.
Prices are kept purposefully low to allow as many people as possible to stay here if they visit, especially youth and those with young families. This is a strain on our finances, and any contribution that you can make to help would be appreciated.
